Caldwell Theatre Company Finalized Casting For Six Years

Caldwell Theatre Company has announced the completed casting for their second summer show of 2011. The show will star multiple Carbonnell nominee Margery Lowe, (most recently seen at Caldwell Theatre Company in the highly acclaimed Pulitzer Prize winner Clybourne Park), and Carbonnell winner Todd Allen Durkin, (making his Caldwell debut) in the pivotal roles of Meredith and Phil Granger, whose marriage we trace from 1949 through 1973. Also cast are Gregg Weiner, also multiple Carbonnell winner (Clybourne Park, Caldwell Theatre), Natasha Sherritt, (The Sun Shone Brighter, Florida Stage) and David Perez-Ribata ( ,Caldwell Theatre).

Six Years, is the compelling story of the late 20th Century, told in 5 separate scenes each 6 years apart. Scene one begins in 1949 post WWII, then lands in the suburban boom cycle of the 1950’s, followed by the hope and promise of 1961 and the Kennedy inauguration, transitioning to 1967 and the Detroit riots and Vietnam, and concluding in 1973 and return of the Vietnam POW’s. It has been described as the quintessential examination “The Greatest Generation”. "Originally produced at the Humana Festival, it was a natural continuation of Caldwell Theatre Company’s “Summer of The Twentieth Century.

“When we put the summer season together,” said Clive Cholerton, Artistic Director of Caldwell Theatre Company and director for Six Years, “we looked for material that would portray the past century from the standpoint of the shared human experience that existed in during this unique period in American History. With Stuff, the Michael McKeever World Premiere, we began in 1929 and ended in 1946. Six Years picks up exactly where Stuff ends, though told with entirely different artistic sensibility.”

The design team for Six Years is familiar to Caldwell Theatre Company audiences who have come to expect Broadway quality production values. Tim Bennett will handle scenic design, Alberto Arroyo will perform his costume mastery, lighting ambiance is in the capable hands of Tom Shorrock, and Deborah Veres will provide property design.

Perhaps most succinctly put, Lexington Herald Leader says, “easily one of the most compelling dramas to come out of the Humana Festival of New American Plays in recent years."
